Mentoring is most often thought of as a one-on-one process where a more experienced person (a mentor) supports and assists an individual (a mentee) in their professional development.
However; in the business world, the value of mentoring to enhance work life, job performance, and job satisfaction has created a transition from informal one-on-one interactions to group mentoring. Group mentoring may involve peer-to peer as well as junior-to-senior relationships.
At American General Life and Accident Insurance Company, we believe a group approach to mentoring with multiple mentors as group leaders will provide mentees with opportunities for networking with their peers as well as top company performers that otherwise might be limited in a one-on-one relationship.

The effectiveness of such a mentoring program is dependent on active involvement by all participants, from the mentees asking questions, providing feedback and following through on suggestions made by mentors, to the mentors willingness to share techniques and provide ideas helpful to someone wanting to grow their management potential.
