In 2008, American General Life Companies (American General) provided more than $1.2 million to 108 charitable organizations. Supported organizations were selected for their quality of service and focus on improving the vitality of our communities.
- United Way – American General is a strong supporter of the United Way, with offices throughout the U.S. running campaigns to support work that advances the common good by focusing on education, income and health.
- March of Dimes – Dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality, the March of Dimes is supported by our Dallas, Houston, Milwaukee, Neptune and Springfield locations.
- Houston Food Bank – Launched with seed funding from American General, the Houston Food Bank’s “Back Pack Buddies” Program provides children in need with a backpack filled with nutritious, non-perishable food to take home each Friday from school to ensure they do not go hungry over the weekend.
American International Group, Inc. is also dedicated to assisting organizations that our employees support. Through our Matching Grants Program, American International Group, Inc. annually matches employee contributions to qualifying charities on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $3,000 per employee.
